Feed conversion and cost per pound for livestock

How much feed it takes to put on a pound, and what each pound costs you.

Livestock → Feed conversion & cost (or Cost of production) works out, for each group:

  • Pounds gained, from weigh-ins (or birth and weaning weights).
  • Feed conversion — lb of feed eaten per lb gained, from the daily log.
  • Feed cost per lb gained, from the price of each feed lot.
  • Cost per lb, with your expenses for the group added in.

The more often you weigh and log feed, the better the numbers. Tag expenses to the group so they count.
