Selling animals: bill of sale, payment and transfer
Sell livestock or birds with the paperwork done for you, take a deposit by card, and hand the records to the buyer.
Set up the sale
- Livestock (or Flocks) → Sales → New sale. Pick the animals — or a flock and how many birds — the buyer, the price and an optional deposit.
- If an animal is still in a treatment's withdrawal period, you're told, and the paperwork says so: the buyer knows not to slaughter it before then.
- Send the buyer their private link (Buyer link or Email buyer).
The buyer's link
- They see the animals with their treatments, vaccines, weights and withdrawal dates, and download the paperwork as a PDF.
- They sign the bill of sale by typing their name.
- If you take cards (Settings → Payments), they can pay the deposit or the balance by card. The money goes to your Stripe account; you're notified when it's paid.
Hand over
- Record any cash or check under Record payment.
- Tap Hand over: the animals are marked sold, the birds come off the flock, a transport record is started and the sale shows in Money.
- The buyer can then add the animals — with their records — to their own ProvenFarm farm in one tap.
The paperwork
- Bill of sale with both parties, the animals, price, deposit and terms, and signature lines.
- A page per animal: breed, parents, origin, organic status (as the seller recorded it), treatments with withdrawal dates, weights and history.
- A transport record and a checklist of official papers the move may need.
ProvenFarm prepares the paperwork from your records. Health certificates (CVI), brand inspections and official ID come from your vet or state — the checklist on the transport page says which may apply.
