Sell by weight: pack, price and label each package
For meat, cheese and anything priced per lb: weigh each package, print a label with its price and a QR code, and scan it at checkout.
- Open Products, pick the product (e.g. Pork chops), set Unit to lb, turn on Sold by weight and set the price per lb.
- Open Packages & labels. Pick the lot it came from (optional), type a cut like "Pork chops", then type each package's weight from your scale and press Enter. "1.42", "1 lb 6 oz" and "22 oz" all work.
- Tap Save & print labels. Each label has your farm, the product, net weight, price per lb, the price, the packed date, the lot and a QR code.
- Label sizes: 4 × 2 in and 2 × 1 in thermal labels (Rollo, Zebra, DYMO 4XL), or letter sheets of Avery 5163.
- At the POS, scan a label (or type its code) to add that exact package. Tap a product sold by weight to pick a package or weigh it on the spot.
- The QR code opens the lot's product story when it's public, otherwise your stand page, where the customer can pay for that package in the honor box.
- A package can only be sold once. Voiding the sale puts it back in stock.
Meat and poultry labels also need your processor's inspection legend and safe handling instructions. Add them under the product's Extra label text or use the processor's label. ProvenFarm doesn't check labels for compliance, and your scale must be legal for trade.
