Print labels for eggs, baked goods and other products

Egg carton labels with the safe-handling text and pack date, and home-kitchen labels with ingredients, allergens and your state's statement.

Open Products and tap Labels on any product. ProvenFarm picks the right kind of label:

  • Eggs: the net quantity, the pack date you choose, your carton statement ("Ungraded. Keep refrigerated" to start with) and the safe-handling instructions federal rules require on cartons.
  • Made in a home kitchen: turn this on for the product, then add the ingredients (heaviest first), the net quantity and the major allergens. Your state's home-kitchen statement prints on every label.
  • Everything else: name, net quantity, anything in Extra label text, and your farm's name and address.
  1. In Settings → Farm → Labels, enter the name and address to print and your state's exact home-kitchen wording.
  2. Edit a product (under More details) to add net quantity, ingredients and allergens. If the product has a recipe, the Labels window can fill the ingredients in for you.
  3. Tap Labels, check the preview and any warnings, pick how many and the paper, and tap Print.

If the ingredients mention butter, flour, nuts or another major allergen that isn't ticked, the Labels window tells you before you print.

QR code and label look

Each label can carry a QR code. Pick a batch and it opens that batch's product passport (where it came from); otherwise it opens your stand page with your hours and what's fresh. If the required text needs the whole label, the QR code is left off.

Five ready-made designs come with ProvenFarm: Classic farmhouse, Eggs, Bakery & jam, Honey & maple and Minimal. Out of the box each product gets the one that suits it; pick another under Design in its Labels window and it's remembered. Settings → Farm → Labels sets a farm-wide default, or upload your own (wide, 2:1, e.g. 1600 × 800 px, decoration around the edges and a plain middle).

Designs print on Avery sheets. Label printers print black only, so they get a simple green-line frame instead.

Label rules differ by state and ProvenFarm prints what you enter. Check with your state department of agriculture or health for the exact requirements.
