Leave a tablet at the stand: lock it to the POS

Customers can ring up their own purchase without reaching your records, settings or other menus.

If you leave a tablet at the stand for customers, lock it to the sale screen. Customers can tap products and record their purchase, but the menus, your records, sales totals and settings are hidden until someone enters your PIN.

  1. Open Farmstand → Sale (the POS).
  2. Tap Lock to POS and choose a 4- to 8-digit PIN, then enter it again.
  3. The tablet now shows only the sale screen. Going to another page or pressing Back brings it back to the POS.
  4. To unlock, tap Staff in the top corner and enter the PIN.

The lock is kept on that tablet even if it restarts or the page reloads. Wholesale sales and the last sale's amount are hidden while it's locked.

Stop customers leaving the browser

The lock keeps people inside ProvenFarm. To also stop them switching apps or closing the browser, use the tablet's own setting:

  • iPad / iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access. Open ProvenFarm, triple-click the side or top button and tap Start.
  • Android: Settings → Security → App pinning (or Screen pinning). Open Recent apps, tap the ProvenFarm icon, then Pin.

Forgot the PIN?

Tap Staff, then "Forgot the PIN? Sign out and sign in again". Signing back in with the farm's email and password unlocks the tablet. After 5 wrong PINs the tablet waits 30 seconds between tries.
